Indigo and Shibori Workshop // Tie Dye Party
Indigo and Shibori Workshop // Tie Dye Party
Join us for a two-hour class on the ancient art of tie-dyeing with indigo on beautiful Block Island. In this workshop, you will learn about the history and traditional methods of indigo dyeing and get hands-on experience creating your own unique designs on natural fibers.
This workshop is perfect for those interested in sustainable fashion and textile arts, as participants are encouraged to bring their own articles of clothing (1-2 items) made from natural materials such as cotton, linen, or hemp to dye. We will be using natural indigo dye, which is non-toxic and eco-friendly. Along with the items you bring, the workshop offers either a yard of linen fabric, cotton t-shirt, or bandana to create with.
You will learn various techniques for folding, twisting, and binding your fabric to create intricate patterns and designs. No prior experience is necessary and all dyeing materials will be provided. Please bring an open mind and a willingness to get a little messy!
At the end of the workshop, you'll walk away with your own unique, up-cycled, and one-of-a-kind item and the knowledge and skills to continue creating your own designs at home.
